Türkiye has always been committed to the monitoring and assessment of air, water and soil quality to ensure the sustainable development of the environment and human health. There are 365 air quality monitoring stations nationwide for real-time monitoring of air quality, including monitoring of SO2 and PM10 parameters since 2005, as well as CO, NOx, O3, and PM2.5 parameters. In order to further improve the accuracy and coverage of air quality monitoring, Türkiye launched the air quality pre assessment project in 2008, and continued to strengthen the construction of the monitoring network in the next few years. By 2016, except for the provinces under the Southeast Anatolia Clean Air Center, the national air quality monitoring network had been successfully established. In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has also inventoried four mobile air quality measurement tools for measurement in key areas, further ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of air quality data.

Through unremitting efforts, Türkiye's air quality has been significantly improved. Data from the past five years shows that overall air quality has improved by 16%, with effective control and improvement of pollutant concentrations such as particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and ozone.

In order to facilitate the public to understand and track the air quality data, Türkiye has also developed mobile applications and websites of the National Air Quality Monitoring Network. Users can access these platforms to obtain real-time air quality data and AQI classification information. In addition, Türkiye also reports air quality monitoring data to EEA every year to realize sharing and cooperation with the international community. These initiatives fully demonstrate Türkiye's firm commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
