(May 29) Adil Karaismailo ğ lu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye, announced that, as the highest building in Istanbul, the tower of Cheaml ı ca has received more than 1.14 million tourists within two years after its completion. This 49 story tower features an observation deck and a restaurant, setting a record for the highest daily visitor count of 9720 on July 11, 2022, thus achieving this milestone.
The minister stated in a written statement that this 369 meter high tower, with a total height of 587 meters, symbolizes the new silhouette of Istanbul and serves as a popular social area, replacing 33 old antennas, eliminating electromagnetic and visual pollution, and becoming the world's first successful interference free broadcast of 100 radio channels.
The Minister stressed the tower's compliance with world standards, environmental protection design and contribution to the tourism industry, because it attracts local and international tourists with its social area, viewing platform, interactive activities and catering choices. He vowed to continue to invest to enhance the value of Istanbul in Türkiye in the second century.
The tower is located on the Asian side of Istanbul, on the mountain of the same name, equipped with panoramic elevators on both sides of the structure, allowing visitors to see iconic historical landmarks on the European side of the city and the vast Black Sea coast in the north.
